South Africa Murder Rate

that of any other group in South Africa. Homicide of whites didn't rise substantially until the 1990s, which explains ... The murder rate broken down by population group - blacks, whites, coloureds and Asians - from 1938 to 2003.
Several trends stand out. The homicide rate for blacks, coloureds and Asians skyrocketed in the 1980s and remained high throughout that decade. There was a second homicide spike from 1990 - 1994 which affected all population groups.
Since 1994 the homicide rate has fallen for all groups, but the homicide rate for coloureds has consistently been well above that of any other group in South Africa.
Homicide of whites didn't rise substantially until the 1990s, which explains white South Africans' greater hysteria over crime (compared to blacks and coloureds, who have been used to unusually high homicide levels since the late 1970s).
