The original version of Weeping by 80's South African band Bright Blue. Written by Dan Heymann in 1986 as a response to the State of Emergency during the apartheid era. It is & will remain a classic piece of South African music history. While the times have changed, promises of a unified "Rainbow Nation" are still eclipsed by political & economic mis-management, the increasing spectre of HIV, the government bolstering a despotic regime in Zimbabwe & most recently, the grim sight of xenophobic attacks on foreign refugees. While the government & regime may have changed, the song remains the same & the lyrics still ring true today.
